Church Altars
The altar at which Holy Communion is presented and served often forms the central point in the adornment of a church sanctuary. It must represent the heart of worship like no other furnishing. We at Imperial Woodworks, Inc. handcraft our church altars and make it our goal to create the perfect piece for your congregation's needs.
Our standard church altars measure 72 inches long, 30 inches deep and 39 inches high with a 2 inch high by 8 inch deep cross step (a narrow shelf at the back of the altar) and 4 inch by 8 inches gradine (a platform for candles or flowers.) Special lengths are available and we are more than willing to work with you in customizing a piece to your specifications. We can help you to achieve the just right balance for your church's size, shape and decor.
Our Hand-Finished Church Altars
Styles range from a simple table without cross step or gradine to a three-paneled rectangle with recessed borders. We hand-treat the surface of our Red Oak altars with a your choice of natural stain or with two-tone (white and stain), while the simpler model has a transparent finish. You may choose your preference in the details of the front panels - plain or with an intricately carved border or center.
